Ratio Calculator
Simplify a ratio to lowest terms, or scale it up or down.
What is a ratio calculator?
A ratio calculator simplifies a ratio to its lowest terms. Example: 12:18 = 2:3.
How to use it
Enter two numbers, then tap Simplify Ratio. To scale a ratio instead, choose Scale ratio and enter a factor.
Formula
To simplify a ratio, divide both numbers by their greatest common factor (GCF). To scale a ratio, multiply both numbers by the same factor.
Example
The GCF of 12 and 18 is 6. Divide both sides by 6: 12 ÷ 6 = 2, 18 ÷ 6 = 3. So 12:18 = 2:3. Scaling 2:3 by 2 gives 4:6.
