What is a scientific calculator?

A scientific calculator does more than add, subtract, multiply and divide. It handles trigonometry (sin, cos, tan), logarithms (log, ln), powers, roots, factorials, percentages and brackets, so you can solve school and college maths problems in one place. On CalcSolver the calculator runs entirely in your browser, so your sums are never sent anywhere.

How to use the scientific calculator

Tap the buttons or type on your keyboard. Use DEG for school angles in degrees and RAD for radians. Type a sum such as sin(30) and tap = to see the answer. AC clears everything, and the backspace button removes the last character. Brackets let you group parts of a sum, for example (3+2)*4.

Formulas and examples

sin(30°) = 0.5 • cos(60°) = 0.5 • log(100) = 2 • ln(1) = 0 • 200 × 15% = 30 • √64 = 8 • 5! = 120 • (3+2) × 4 = 20 • 2^10 = 1,024 • 5² = 25

Percentages are worked out as a fraction of 100, powers use ^, and factorials multiply a whole number by every number below it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this scientific calculator free?

Yes. It is free in your browser, with no account and no download.

Does it work on mobile and school Chromebooks?

Yes. Buttons are at least 48px, the layout is one column on phones, and everything runs client-side.

How do I use sin, cos and tan?

Keep DEG mode on for school angles, type the number, then tap sin, cos or tan. Example: sin(30) = 0.5.

What do log and ln mean?

log is base 10, so log(100) = 2. ln is the natural log, so ln(1) = 0.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Calculations run in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
