What is a final grade calculator?
A final grade calculator finds the score you need on the final exam to reach your target grade. Example: with a current grade of 80%, a desired grade of 85% and a final worth 20%, you need 105% on the final.

Formula
Needed = (desired − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight. For example: (85 − 80 × 0.8) ÷ 0.2 = (85 − 64) ÷ 0.2 = 21 ÷ 0.2 = 105%.
Example
Needed = (85 − 80 × 0.8) ÷ 0.2 = (85 − 64) ÷ 0.2 = 21 ÷ 0.2 = 105%. That is more than 100%, so the desired grade is not reachable even with a perfect final.
